About
Some clothes you wear. Some you carry with you.
Matue Couture was born from a homecoming.
After 16 years abroad, our founder Simone returned to her home country: Cameroon— and what she found stopped her. The elegance of the fabrics. The precision of the artisans' hands. The way a woman standing in a hand-crafted piece carries herself differently, like she knows exactly who she is.
She couldn't leave that behind. So she built an atelier in Lomé, Togo, and brought it to the world.
Crafted in West Africa, for women everywhere
Every Matue Couture piece is made by hand in our atelier in Lomé, Togo — by skilled artisans who cut, sew, bead, and finish each garment with care and precision. No factories. No shortcuts. Just craft.
Our current collection is made with fabric sourced directly from Ghana — vivid Kente cloth and wax prints that carry generations of cultural meaning. Every pattern tells a story. Every thread has a place.
A continent, one collection at a time
Africa is not one story. It is 54 countries, each with its own textile traditions, color languages, and artistry. Our mission is to honor that richness — one collection at a time.
Our debut collection draws from Ghana. Our next collection travels to Burkina Faso. With each new release, we go deeper into the continent's heritage, bringing rarely seen fabrics and techniques to a global stage.
This is what makes Matue Couture unlike anything else: we're not inspired by Africa. We're rooted in it.
Why it matters
Every purchase supports the artisan community in our Lomé atelier and the fabric makers and weavers across West Africa who supply our materials. Ethical sourcing and fair partnerships aren't a tagline — they're the foundation everything is built on.
Our Values
Heritage Without Imitation
We believe African craftsmanship deserves to be experienced in its depth, beauty, and authenticity — not reduced to trends or inspiration. Every collection is rooted in real stories, real artisans, and real cultural artistry.
Sustainable by Intention
We believe luxury should be created thoughtfully. Through limited production, made-to-order pieces, and intentional sourcing, we design garments meant to be treasured, worn, and kept for years — not seasons.
Craft Over Mass Production
Every Matue Couture piece is touched by human hands. We value precision, patience, and artistry over speed, honoring the craftsmanship behind every stitch, bead, and silhouette.
Empowerment Through Presence
The right garment changes how a woman carries herself. We create pieces designed to make women feel powerful, elegant, and fully themselves — without compromise.
Made for your body. Made to last.
Some pieces are available now, ready to ship from our limited in-hand inventory — perfect if you've found the one and don't want to wait. For the perfect fit, most styles are also available made-to-order, crafted to your exact measurements.
Either way, this isn't fast fashion. It's the opposite — clothing designed to fit beautifully and last for years.
